Frequently Asked Questions - ETS2/ATS Sound Packs

Q: What's the difference between the different EVO series (EVO1, EVO2, EVO3, etc.)?

A: EVO stands for Evolution and represents the development stage of a Sound Pack.

Every EVO series reflects the latest advancements available at the time of its creation, including:

  • 🎙️ Recording techniques
  • 🎛️ Audio processing
  • 🔊 Sound design
  • ⚙️ FMOD implementation

As our experience, equipment, and technology continue to evolve, each new EVO series builds upon the previous one to deliver an even more authentic, immersive, and refined driving experience.

While earlier EVO series remain fully functional and are supported where possible, newer releases typically include:

  • Improved recordings
  • More advanced sound design
  • Refined implementation
  • Enhanced realism and overall audio quality
Q: How do I choose & successfully install the correct files for my game version?

A: Each product's download page is organized into separate sections for the supported game versions (e.g. 1.59, 1.60, etc.).

To install your Sound Pack:

  1. Check your current ETS2 or ATS game version
  2. Download the .rar archive from the matching game version section
  3. Extract the archive using software such as WinRAR or 7-Zip.
  4. Copy all included .scs files into your Documents/Euro Truck Simulator 2/mod (or Documents/American Truck Simulator/mod) folder.
  5. Launch the game, open the Mod Manager, activate the main Sound Pack and, optionally, all additional files, and place it with high priority in the load order.

Important: Always use the files that match your current game version. Using files intended for a different version results in incompatibility and won't work!
If you're unsure which game version you're running, you can find it on the game's Main Menu in the bottom right corner.

Q: Why do some Sound Packs include multiple mod files (e.g. Engine Def files), while others don't?

A: Some Sound Packs include additional Engine Definitions to recreate not only the sound, but also the real-world driving characteristics of the recorded truck.

These Definition files add standalone engines and transmissions crafted according to original manufacturer data sheet, modifying parameters & characteristics such as:

  • Engine torque curves
  • Transmission gear ratios
  • Fuel consumption parameters
  • Gear shifting logic
  • Engine braking characteristics

These Engine Definition files are completely optional and are not required for the Sound Pack to work. Without them, the Sound Pack simply uses the original SCS engine definitions, replacing only their sounds. This means the Sound Pack works immediately with all compatible SCS engines for the supported trucks.

A complete list of supported trucks, compatible engines, and the availability of Additional Engine Definitions can always be found in the corresponding product description.

This feature was introduced with newer EVO series, which is why it is not available for every Sound Pack.

Q: Why does the Sound Pack in my game sound different from the showcase videos on your social media?

A: Showcase videos are usually recorded using the initial release version of the corresponding sound pack, ensuring they accurately represent the product at the time of its release.

As both ETS2/ATS and our sound packs constantly evolve, certain aspects of the driving experience may change over time. Game updates, game engine revisions, FMOD improvements, and ongoing refinements to the sound packs can all influence how a product sounds and behaves compared to its original showcase.

Every update is designed to improve realism, compatibility, and overall sound quality. As a result, the current version of a sound pack may differ slightly from what you hear in its original preview video.

Due to the continuous development of both the game and our products, showcase videos are not updated for every product release. Instead, they serve as a representative preview of the sound pack and its overall character.

Q: Which settings do you recommend for the best audio & driving experience?

A: For the best possible experience with our sound packs, we recommend using the audio and gameplay settings shown below:

  • Audio Settings

For the most immersive experience, we also recommend using a pair of high-quality headphones or a good speaker system. A capable audio setup allows you to appreciate the full dynamic range and fine details of the sound pack as intended.

  • Gameplay Settings

  • When using the custom engine and transmission combinations included with the Additional Engine Definitions, the Adaptive Automatic Transmission setting must be set to High Power Mode.

If this setting is not configured correctly, the automatic transmission may:

    • operate within an excessively low RPM range,
    • unnecessarily shift through each gear,
    • prevent the engine from reaching its intended torque band,
    • cause slow or delayed acceleration,
    • and produce uneven or jerky vehicle movement.

To ensure correct automatic transmission behavior and the best possible driving experience, High Power Mode must always be enabled when using our custom engine and transmission options.
